​Number of Posts: There are more than 28,740 posts across India, while there are about 1,191 posts for Odisha.
​Application Date: The online application process has started from 31 January 2026 and its last date is till 14 February 2026.

Educational Qualification:

Candidate must have passed at least 10th. Along with this, it is mandatory to pass Mathematics and English.
​Language Knowledge: You must know the local language (Odia for Odisha) of the Circle for which you are applying.


​Age Limit:

Minimum 18 years and maximum 40 years. There is an age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC category candidates as per government rules.
​Selection Process: There will be no exam for this. Merit List will be prepared and selected based on 10th class marks.
​Application Fee:

Rs. 100 for General and OBC candidates and no fee for women, SC/ST, and PH candidates.


​Job Profile and Work (Job Profile Explanation):


​There are three main posts under GDS:


​1. Branch Postmaster (BPM):
This is the main post of Branch Post Officer. Their job is to manage all the work of a post office, promote postal services, open accounts and supervise money transactions (IPPB).


​2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM):
They help the BPM in their work. In addition, their main responsibility is to sell stamps, distribute them from post office to post office and inform people about government schemes.


3. Dak Sevak:
Dak Sevak mainly work in various post offices. Their job is to collect postal bags, sort letters and do other office work assigned by the Postmaster.


​Salary/TRCA Structure


​For BPM: Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 29,380 per month.
​For ABPM/Dak Sevak: Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470 per month.
